2018 Triangle Events & Celebrations

The days are getting shorter, the nights colder, and winter is on the horizon. But before we bid 2018 good-bye and usher in a new year, let’s celebrate with some fun, festivities, and entertainment. Here are some of the best Triangle events happening in the rest of 2018.

Park West Village Winter Wonderland

winter wonderland and other triangle eventsThis coming weekend (November 16 through 18) head down to Park West Village in Morrisville for three evenings of fun. There will be Magical Winter Lights Paintscaping, train rides, carolers, sledding slopes, Story Time with Santa, and a Magical Winter Lights Show.

Christmas Parade

raleigh christmas parade and other triangle eventsThis Saturday, we kick off the holiday season in the Triangle with the Downtown Raleigh Christmas Parade. The largest holiday parade between Atlanta and DC, the Raleigh Christmas Parade marches along Hillsborough Street for over 2 hours, drawing 60,000 people to the streets of Downtown.

American Indian Heritage Celebration

native american crafting demonstrationsAfter the parade, stop by the North Carolina Museum of History to explore the American Indian Heritage Celebration. From 11 to 4pm, the Celebration features music and dance, storytellers, artists and craft demonstrations, activities and games, food, and an all-round celebration of Native American culture.

North Carolina Chinese Lantern Festival

chinese lantern festivalHead to the Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary to wander through the beautiful display of Chinese lanterns. The show runs all holiday season long, starting November 23 and continuing through January 13. In addition to a ½ mile viewing trail, there are also food and beverage stands and a viewing deck.

Infinity Ballet: Dances of the Nutcracker

nutcracker ballet at halle cultural arts centerCelebrate the season with one of Christmas’s favorite shows: the Nutcracker. Head to the Halle Cultural Arts Center in Apex to catch one of four performances running Friday, November 30 through Sunday, December 2. Showtimes are Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 3pm, and Sunday at 2 and 4pm.

First Night Raleigh

first night raleigh fireworksSend the year out with a BANG and welcome in a fantastic start to the new year at First Night Raleigh. On December 31, head downtown to enjoy a night of over 100 performances across 35 venues, tons of activities and food, and even a 90-foot Ferris wheel. There’s a countdown to midnight followed by an acorn drop and fireworks.
