Celebrate the Last Few Weeks of the Year with These Triangle Events

Can you believe that 2018 is almost over? With just under four weeks left in the year, the holiday season is quickly coming to a close. But there are still plenty of ways to get out and celebrate in the Triangle community!

No matter how you choose to ring in the coming weeks, there’s almost certainly a holiday event in the area that suits your preferences. Check out a few of these upcoming highlights, and add them to your holiday lists.

Holiday Sip & Shop

Various holiday decorations.Still looking for those last few items on your list? The Holiday Sip & Shop at Norris House is a great way to shop local, support good causes, and wrap up (no pun intended) your holiday gift lists.

The Norris House partners with a different non-profit every week, and the proceeds from ticket donations go directly towards the cause. There will be a variety of local vendors at the event selling their wares — from handmade soaps to original pieces of art. Bring along a friend and come out to support the community!

Piper Lights

Holiday lights.A family-run lights display that has been in operation for over 30 years, the Piper Lights started off as a modest manger scene. Today, the display has grown to include 7 acres of land filled with dazzling light shows.

In addition to the drive-through display at Piper Lights, you can also opt to take a train ride through the lights. Once you finish gazing at the displays, check out the old-fashioned candy store, say hi to Santa, and buy a few locally made holiday crafts.

Christmas at Oak View Farm

The displays cover five main eras — the Antebellum Era, the Civil War Era, the Victorian Era, the Great Depression, and World War II — and provides a look at the traditions and decorations of each time period.

In addition to the historical tours, there will also be a Christmas event during select evenings called Sleigh Rides and Cider. Come out for a learning experience, and stay for the carriage rides, warm drinks, and live holiday music!

Main Street Christmas and Happy Holly Days

The festivities will kick off with a Main Street Christmas, which will feature visits with the Claus family, live entertainment, hay rides, and a tree lighting ceremony.

The next morning, hit the streets to watch the annual Happy Holly Days Christmas Parade. A variety of festive floats, decorated vehicles, marching bands, and more will make their way down Main Street, spreading holiday cheer as they go.
