Here are some amazing parks around the Triangle that are perfect for spring!
The Top Five Parks Around the Triangle
Pullen Park
A longstanding Raleigh landmark, Pullen Park has transformed into a revitalized destination for locals and tourists alike. The park underwent an extensive renovation from 2009 to 2011, and today, it’s one of the best places in the Triangle to experience the wonder of spring. Feel free to check out the East Coast Greenway, stroll across the picturesque paths and bridges, or take a paddleboat out on the lake. The options really are endless!
JC Raulston Arboretum
Ready to explore some of North Carolina’s native flora and fauna? Located on NC State University’s campus, the JC Raulston Arboretum features an immaculate display of over 6,000 annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, and so much more. Admission is free, and we recommend taking some time to explore the Finley-Nottingham Rose Garden, the Paradise Garden, and the Japanese Garden.
The North Carolina Museum of Art
Did you know that the North Carolina Museum of Art features the largest museum park in the country? That’s right—in addition to a vast collection of indoor art, the museum also maintains a 164-acre green space for visitors to explore…for free! This spring, the museum is also bringing back its Art in Bloom program, which features gorgeous displays of curated floral arrangements.
The North Carolina Botanical Garden
Head over to Chapel Hill to explore the North Carolina Botanical Garden, which is the largest conservation garden in the state. Here, you’ll uncover around 700 acres of pure beauty, as well as 210 additional acres of nature preserves. Over 2,500 species call the gardens home, including Venus Flytraps, medicinal plants, herbs, and Southeastern ferns.
WRAL Azalea Garden
We’ve all seen WRAL News on TV…but did you know that their studio maintains its own garden? You’ll find the WRAL Azalea Garden at the Capitol Broadcasting headquarters, but don’t let its location fool you. This peaceful oasis showcases over 60 varieties of blossoming azaleas. However, you’ll also discover plenty of camellias, flowering trees, and perennials. Peak bloom time is usually around April, so be sure to plan your visit a few weeks in advance!
